Watch This Bar Mitzvah Boy Vogue Like a Man (via wes p.)

Shaun Sperling was just another kid from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, until one day — March 14th, 1992 to be exact — when he stood before his friends and family at his Madonna-themed Bar Mitzvah and vogued the sacred vogue, thus officially becoming a man. GAWKER

When I was a lad, a bar mitzvah was a service at the temple and a party afterward. The party was thrown by the parents of the boy (or girl – she would have had a bat mizvah, because in America, our children are equal, so long as they aren’t fegelahs) and there would be a combo playing in the background.

But these themes – WTF? Celebrating Madonna (the mother of Jesus? The Catholic singer?, the patron performer of the gay 90s) at a party for manhood. So, so wrong.
